Full time benefitted NTT positions in Composition at Nevada State College
We are growing our writing programs at Nevada State College and are eager to fill two new full time non-tenure track positions that will focus on first-year composition, with opportunities to teach other writing courses as we expand course offerings in the English degree.
First-year composition courses may collaborate with one or more programs that include embedded peer support, such as our writing intensive program (supporting writing across the curriculum) and our Course Assistant program (supporting historically challenging gateway courses). Instructors also collaborate with the Writing Center on course assignments and workshops, and with colleagues in other disciplines on shared projects.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: working with underrepresented, first generation, or nontraditional college students; antiracist work in composition; working with multilingual writers; disability studies; working with undergraduate peer tutors; using writing about writing pedagogy, critical pedagogy, and/or other current pedagogies in composition; teaching composition online; teaching multimedia composition; faculty development.
The description indicates that review of applications has already begun, but we have not yet begun to review due to internal delays that do not affect the positions themselves. Any applications we receive before the end of May will be treated with full consideration.
As an institution in the process of earning HSI designation, we understand the importance of representing our diverse student population at the faculty level, especially in first-year courses. The related fields of English, rhetoric, composition, and writing studies generally underrepresent people of color at the faculty level, and we are earnestly seeking to shift that balance on our campus.
Interested candidates may contact me directly at email@example.com with any questions about the positions, the department, or Nevada State College generally. Please note, our college website is currently under construction, so key information about the writing programs is not yet available publicly.
