Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition, Niagara University

Niagara University, a private, predominately undergraduate institution sponsored by the Vincentian community, seeks a full-time Assistant Professor in English (with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition) for a tenure-track appointment in the English Department starting in Fall 2008. Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. by August 2008 with specialization in Rhetoric and Composition. Experience and interest in one or more of the following: writing program administration; English education; rhetorical theory; creative writing; professional writing. An active program of research, potential for scholarly publication, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and service to the University, the profession, and the community are expected.

The successful candidate will contribute to Niagara’s first-year composition program, which serves roughly 750 students per year, and teach rhetoric and composition courses for English education majors as well as courses in the growing writing studies minor. The teaching load is currently 12 hours (4 courses) per semester but will soon be reduced to 9 hours (3 courses); release time for administration and/or research is available.
