July 2024 Update: Save the dates for 2024-2025 events

Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to be sending you this first message as your CWPA president. As Lilian wrote in her note earlier this week, I am taking this role because I believe in the mission of CWPA and I believe we have important work to do in the field of rhetoric and composition. We are uniquely positioned to support WPAs and those who do WPA work, which ultimately meets a huge need and enables WPAs to more effectively serve students. You can read more about me and what I hope to accomplish this year in my candidate statement and bio. Please also reserve time on your schedule for the following events in the 2024-2025 academic year: 

1. Bi-monthly meetings to discuss the OneEight Create cultural audit report: These 75-minute gatherings will focus on each of the key themes that emerged through the audit, which will be published on the website in August 2024. They will generally take place on the second Friday of every other month, starting in September, at 11:30am ET.  Key dates to reserve: 9/13, 11/8, 1/9, 3/14, and 5/9.
2. Monthly professional development webinars: these 60-minute webinars will address a variety of topics relevant to WPAs. They will generally take place on the third Friday of every month at 2pm EST, starting in August. I’ll be sending more information on topics and registration links in my August update. In the meantime, here’s a list of dates to reserve: 8/23, 9/20, 10/18, 11/14, 12/14, 2/21, 3/21, and 5/16. 

The first series will help us digest the OEC cultural audit report and think about our next phase as an organization, while the second series will provide valuable and timely professional development information for WPAs. I look forward to sharing more information on each series in August. Until then, I wish you a restful summer!
