Department of English

Position: Writing Center Director, at the rank of lecturer
(non-tenure-track) or assistant professor (tenure-track), depending on
qualifications, beginning Fall 2009.

Duties: Supervising the Writing Center and computer lab (including
developing policies and procedures, hiring and training tutors,
promotion), teaching undergraduate courses, and service (e.g.,
advising, departmental and university committees). For an assistant
professor, continued publishing in field and work with M.A. and Ph.D.


• Minimum of M.A. in English required, preferably in rhetoric and composition
• Writing center experience
• Teaching excellence
• Earned doctorate and record of scholarly activities and
publications, for rank of assistant professor

Salary: competitive.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is a selective-admissions,
state-supported university of approximately 16,300 undergraduate and
graduate students, located in the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole
region between Houston and New Orleans. It offers the doctorate in
nine areas and masters degrees in 29 disciplines. The English
department offers the M.A. and Ph.D. with concentrations in Literary
Studies, Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Folklore, and Linguistics.
