Preferred:  evidence of effective teaching and demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly, publishable work

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The English Department at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, with a specialization in composition and rhetoric, to begin August 1, 2010. We are seeking a candidate whose research and teaching interests focus on digital rhetoric or digital literacies and who will contribute to our undergraduate and graduate concentration in writing and literacy, as well as our first-year writing program.

 

Additional research and/or teaching interests related to one or more of the following areas are welcome: business and professional writing; science writing; service learning; writing assessment; writing across the curriculum (WAC); writing in the disciplines (WID). Ph.D. in Composition/Rhetoric must be completed by August 1, 2010.

 

The department offers an MA in English, three graduate certificates (Teaching Writing, Professional and Scholarly Editing, and TESOL), and an undergraduate certificate in Technical Communication.  We host the Journal of Teaching Writing and a site of the National Writing Project. Located in downtown Indianapolis, IUPUI has over 30,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, including 15% students of color.
