Director of the Writing Center at Bryn Mawr College

Bryn Mawr invites applicants for Director of the Writing Center. In addition to administering all aspects of an established, thriving Writing Center, the director will also teach two or three courses per year, including freshman seminars and other writing courses.  The director recruits, hires, trains, and supervises peer tutors; supports students and faculty in the Emily Balch Seminar program and in writing-intensive courses; oversees the Writing Partners Program; works closely with the Director of Writing to plan curriculum for writing courses and for other writing initiatives; and thinks creatively in devising new programming for the Center.   The position requires knowledge of and experience with writing center practice and theory; teaching experience in writing courses; and ability to work closely with a range of campus constituencies.   Experience with ESL writers and writers of diverse backgrounds desirable, as is familiarity with writing issues at small, selective liberal arts colleges.  Advanced degree expected; Ph.D. preferred.  This position is classified as professional/administrative.
