Dear CWPA Members,
As you may know, the Council of Writing Program Administrators is in the process of becoming incorporated. We would like to have the approval of our membership for the last stage of that process. Thus, the Council of Writing Program Administrators (the unincorporated association) will hold a vote of the membership by paper ballot at the 2012 Summer Conference, on the following question:
"Shall the Council of Writing Program Administrators transfer all assets, liabilities, and memberships from the original tax-exempt unincorporated association to the recently formed tax-exempt corporation that has the same name, officers, and executive board members?"
It was crucial for the Council of Writing Program Administrators to become a tax-exempt corporation. The next step in the process is to transfer the assets, liabilities, and memberships to the tax-exempt corporation. Of course, for the organization to function, it is essential that the assets, liabilities, and memberships be transferred from the unincorporated association to the tax-exempt corporation.

Paper ballots will be included in all registration packets in Albuquerque, but only registered members of CWPA should cast votes. The ballot box will be available at the Thursday banquet, at each of the other group meals, and at the Sunday final business meeting. During the rest of the conference, the ballot box will be at the registration table.
During the conference will we issue reminders to vote.
