The Grand Valley State University Department of Writing seeks a tenure-track professor (assistant or associate professor rank) to begin in August 2016 and assume the directorship of our first-year writing program within one or two years. A Ph.D. with an emphasis in rhetoric/composition, writing studies, professional writing or a related field is required by time of employment. Candidates are required to have expertise or experience in writing program development and administration. In addition, study in one or more of the following areas is desirable: professional and technical communication, business/workplace communication, professional writing, digital rhetoric, genre study, style, or composition studies.
The typical teaching load is 3 courses per semester (2 for the director of FYW) and may include first-year composition and a range of courses in our major curriculum. All candidates will have responsibility to perform up to department and university expectations in the areas of teaching, publication, and service.
